Hailing from Colombia, the brotherly Latin pop pair Cali y El Dandee comprises Alejandro, who performs as Cali, and Mauricio Rengifo, known as El Dandee. Operating chiefly as a singles-oriented act, they fuse hip-hop, pop, dance, and reggaeton into the hybrid sound they label "flybot."

During their inaugural professional year in 2009 the siblings released five singles, among them the enduring radio track "Volver," and have maintained an average of at least three each subsequent year. The 2012 single "Yo Te Esperaré" earned double-platinum certification in Spain, while the follow-up "No Hay Dos Sin Tres," featuring David Bisbal, achieved gold status and served as the official anthem for Spain’s national team at the 2012 Euro Cup; that same year they unveiled their debut long-player, 3 A.M.

Their strongest commercial territories have remained Spain, Mexico, and the United States. The 2015 release "Por Fin Te Encontre," which featured Juan Magán and Sebastián Yatra, reached number one in Spain, entered the U.S. Latin Pop top 50, and received five-times-platinum certification while its video amassed more than 830 million views. In 2017 Dandee served as co-producer on Luis Fonsi’s worldwide hit "Despacito"; that year the duo also teamed with Shaggy for the single "Lumbra," which climbed to number six and attained triple-platinum status, and issued the platinum-certified "La Estrategia."

Cali y El Dandee delivered the charting single "Ay Corazón" in 2019 and followed it with three collaborative tracks, including the gold-certified "Tequila Sunrise" featuring Rauw Alejandro. The 2020 collaboration "+" with Spanish pop singer Aitana peaked at number two and earned platinum certification; in May the siblings issued their second album, Colegio, which spawned no fewer than five singles: "Borracho de Amor" featuring Mexico’s Reik, "Tu Nombre" with Mike Bahía, "Voy por Ti" alongside Piso 21, and the gold-certified "Locura," again with Yatra.

Opening 2021 with "Primera Carta" featuring Beret, whose video surpassed 13 million views in its first two months, they released "Pasado" the following March in partnership with Carmen DeLeon. One month later they issued the self-described "popeton" track "Despiertate," a collaboration with Mau y Ricky and Guaynaa; Billboard magazine singled it out as a potential summer hit, a prediction borne out when the song entered the Latin Top 20 across streaming platforms and its video accumulated more than 4.5 million views within its opening month.
