María Isabel

Spanish pop star María Isabel entered the world as María Isabel López Rodriguez in Andalusia, Spain during 1995 and quickly developed a passion for both singing and dancing. After first claiming victory in the national selection, she captured the 2004 Junior Eurovision Song Contest with "Antes Muerta Que Sentilla," a song later featured on her debut album, No Me Toques las Palmas Que Me Conozco, issued in 2005. The project performed strongly enough at home to secure a release across Latin America, where it likewise enjoyed considerable traction. That same year brought her second studio album, Numero 2. Capricornio arrived in 2006 as a double-disc package that bundled a DVD containing her videos and additional material. In 2007 she took the lead role in the feature film Ángeles S.A. while also recording its complete soundtrack; both the movie and the album proved enormously successful in Spain, where the record topped the chart and later earned platinum status. Much of the early 2010s found her focused on education, yet she resurfaced with De Pie in 2014, Yo Decido the following year, and the single "Tu Mirada" in 2019.
