Biography
Jelani Aryeh McCall channels alienation and heartache through his work as a singer, rapper, and songwriter whose sound leans toward alternative pop and R&B. As the founder of Raised by the Internet, he issued scattered tracks along with the EPs Suburban Destinesia in 2017 and Helvetica in 2019, then delivered his debut album I've Got Some Living to Do in 2021 before issuing the propulsive indie-pop single “I'm in Love” in 2024.
A household steeped in independent music shaped his path from the start. His parents established their own label and built a recording studio inside their San Diego home, which nurtured his early interest in creative collaboration. During high school he formed Raised by the Internet, a self-run national network of artists modeled on collectives like Odd Future and BROCKHAMPTON.
His first official solo material surfaced in 2017 with several standalone tracks and the Suburban Destinesia EP, whose lead single “Where We Go” captured his characteristically tense style. The track “Daunt” arrived the following year, setting the stage for a burst of releases in 2019 that included the atmospheric, metaphysical Helvetica EP. His first full-length, I've Got Some Living to Do, appeared in 2021 and featured the Strokes-reminiscent “Stella Brown” alongside the buoyant “Marigold.” He reemerged in 2024 with “I'm in Love.”
