Residing in Los Angeles, Remi Wolf produces a vibrant strain of pop that weaves together funk, disco, jazz, hip-hop, left-field experiments, and lo-fi textures. She launched her recording career with singles in 2019, drawing early notice for the track “Guy,” which appeared on her playful first EP, You’re a Dog. After joining Island Records, she delivered two additional EPs in rapid order before unveiling her debut full-length, Juno, in 2021. Tracks such as the Billboard alternative-charting “Cinderella” paved the way for her 2024 album Big Ideas, where she wove vintage instruments into her idiosyncratic palette.

A native of California, Wolf nurtured her musical interests from childhood onward, yet her path also encompassed a decade of competitive downhill skiing and Olympic preparation, followed by a 2014 appearance on American Idol. Rather than channeling her strong, soulful voice toward broad commercial appeal, she rejected the conventional route that often follows the show and instead spent several years developing an independent style while enrolled at the USC Thornton School of Music, where she majored in Popular Music. Upon completing her degree in 2018, she stepped forward as a solo artist with the 2019 release “Guy,” a buoyant piece of tropical funk-pop that quickly circulated through blogs and playlists. She later incorporated the song into her debut EP, You’re a Dog, which highlighted her expanding range. A guest spot on Cautious Clay’s upbeat 2020 single “Cheesin’” increased her visibility ahead of her second EP, I’m Allergic to Dogs!, issued as her first project for Island.

The 2021 remix collection We Love Dogs! brought in high-profile contributions from Beck, Sylvan Esso, and Polo & Pan. Anchored by the streaming favorite “Sexy Villain,” her full-length debut Juno arrived that October to widespread critical approval. After supporting Lorde on tour and appearing at multiple festivals, Wolf released the Live at Electric Lady EP in August 2022. She opened 2023 with a Coachella set and the effervescent single “Prescription,” sparked by a phone exchange with her friend Boots Riley of the Coup. In early 2024 she issued the funk-driven “Cinderella,” which became her first entry on the Billboard Hot Rock & Alternative Songs chart. Produced by longtime collaborator Jared Solomon, the album Big Ideas followed on Island in July, shortly after she joined Olivia Rodrigo’s Guts World Tour as a support act. Recorded at Diamond Mine Recording and Electric Lady Studios in New York, Big Ideas presented a renewed sonic approach built around classic equipment.
