A dance-pop ensemble serving as the Spanish-language counterpart to the Vengaboys or S Club 7, Axe Bahia originated in the Brazilian resort town Porto Seguro. Devotees of the "Axe" music scene—dance music frequently tied to aerobics—dancers Flaviana and Jociney chose to build a project fusing the sounds they admired with live movement. Dancer Jeferson soon entered the lineup, joined by three further members who later exited. Chilean industrialist Rolando Devia, after repeated visits to Brazil aimed at transplanting the Axe sound to Chile, recruited the fledgling group to travel back with him in 2001. In Chile the roster expanded with the addition of dancers Francini and Bruno, after which the band began crafting original material and staging choreography. Singles such as "Tudo Bem," and "Beso en la Boca," ascended the charts in Peru, Brazil, and Argentina, and the act's debut album surfaced in 2003.
