Biography
Bars of Gold originated in Ferndale, a Detroit suburb in Michigan, when the instrumental noise rock band Wildcatting acquired vocals in 2008 through the arrival of Marc Paffi, the ex-frontman of Bear vs. Shark. Paffi joined forces with drummer Brandon Moss, another Bear vs. Shark veteran, guitarists Scott Iulianelli and Ben Audette, and bassist Nick Jones; together they merged the two groups’ approaches by letting the vocals impose form on Wildcatting’s free-form rock eruptions, yielding a result that is both substantial and danceable. The band’s first release arrived in 2010 with the album Of Gold on Friction Records.
