Biography
Emerging as a youthful singer and songwriter, Bea and Her Business blends Lily Allen’s sharp melodic craft with a confessional warmth that offsets her lighter side. Early experiments came through social-media renditions that gradually sharpened into a distinct voice, first fully realized with the 2023 release “Born to Be Alive,” a track that accumulated millions of streams online. That exposure drew the interest of Fraser T. Smith, known for work with Adele, who lent his hand to “Me Against My Head,” the opening installment in a run of 2024 singles that extended through “Good Things.”
London-born Bea Wheeler entered the world in 2004 and displayed an early pull toward music, beginning with cello before shifting focus to vocals. Lily Allen’s example prompted her to begin composing during her teenage years. Finding her given name insufficiently striking for performance, she adopted the stage identity Bea and Her Business. During the COVID-19 pandemic she began uploading cover versions, inaugurating the series with Lana Del Rey’s “Summertime Sadness.” Her take on George Ezra’s “Budapest” caught the songwriter’s ear, leading him to join her for an online duet of the same number.
A licensing agreement with Elektra/Warner Music UK soon followed. Issued as her debut commercial single in 2023, “Born to Be Alive” secured rotation on Radio 1. “All the Boys” arrived next, succeeded by the introductory EP Introverted Extrovert. For the 2024 track “Me Against My Head,” Bea again collaborated with Fraser T. Smith, whose résumé also includes Sam Smith. Stuart Price handled production on the subsequent “WOW!,” while “Good Things” arrived with a luminous pop gloss.
