Biography
Beate S. Lech supplies the vocals for Norwegian ensemble Beady Belle, whose music fuses jazz, acid jazz, and downbeat-tinged electronic pop. Lech and bassist/programmer Marius Reksjø, both ex-university music students, launched the group in Oslo in 1999, later adding drummer Erik Holm to the roster. Conceived at first as Lech’s solo debut on Jazzland Records, the project evolved into Beady Belle’s 2001 album Home once she and Reksjø joined forces to develop her material. The band issued its second album, Cewbeagappic, two years afterward. In 2005 came the third studio effort, Closer, with Belvedere arriving in 2008.
