Hailing from Australia, Bitch Prefect comprises three musicians whose raucous, punk-infused pop recalls the legacies of Flying Nun, Sarah Records, and Chapter Music. Bass and vocals fall to Scott O'Hara, guitar to Liam Kenny, and drums to Pat Telfer. Each member brings prior experience from other groups: Kenny maintains roles in both Peak Twins and Kitchen's Floor, Telfer performs with Old Mate, and O'Hara collaborates in True Radical Miracle. The group originated after the three shared a residence in Adelaide's Keswick suburb, where Telfer and Kenny had already begun writing material and later asked O'Hara to complete the tracks. Their opening single, Marilyn Monroe/Holiday in America, appeared in 2011 on the R.I.P. Society imprint. For the somewhat more refined debut album Big Time in 2012, Bitch Prefect switched to the respected local label Bedroom Suck. A sharper punk direction emerged on Bird Nerds, initially released in 2013 before receiving broader distribution in March 2014.
