Drag City revealed in 2011 that RTX, the outfit Jennifer Herrema had launched after the dissolution of the storied art-noise rock group Royal Trux, would henceforth operate as Black Bananas, a name taken from a cut on the band's Western Xterminator album. Herrema was joined by the same core members—Jaimo Welch, Brian McKinley, Kurt Midness, and Nadav Eisenman—whose first release under the new identity, Rad Times Xpress IV, surfaced in the opening months of 2012. Two years afterward the ensemble resurfaced with Electric Brick Wall, a further raucous blend of glam metal, funk, and additional strands.
