Formed in New Zealand, the punk rock outfit known as the Bleeders stepped onto the stage for the first time in early 2003, its lineup consisting of vocalist Angelo Munro, guitarist Ian King, guitarist Hadleigh Donald, bassist Gareth Stack, and drummer King George Clark. That summer the group tracked its debut EP, A Bleeding Heart, which appeared in October and quickly earned the band both a nationwide tour and a slot at the 2004 Big Day Out Festival. Two years later the Bleeders issued their first proper studio album, As Sweet as Sin—distinct from the 2004 self-titled compilation of earlier material prepared solely for the Australian market—reaching number two on the charts and collecting several awards. In 2008 they followed with a second studio album, also self-titled yet unrelated to the earlier Australian collection, which entered the New Zealand Top 40.
