Ohio post-hardcore outfit Attack Attack surfaced in 2007, forging a sound that fused screamo and metalcore with electronic elements. Though their run proved brief, the Warped Tour regulars helped pioneer the electronicore movement by issuing three key albums—Someday Came Suddenly, Attack Attack!, and This Means War—before shutting down in 2013. The group revealed plans to regroup in 2020 and followed through the next year with the EP Long Time, No Sea.

Distinct from the cluster of similarly named acts that surfaced around the turn of the century, the Ohio Attack Attack! adhered to a Christian ethos while operating in the screamo and metalcore realm. Formed in 2005, the lineup of vocalist Austin Carlile, guitarist and vocalist Johnny Franck, guitarist Andrew Whiting, bassist Nick White (later succeeded by John Holgado), keyboardist Caleb Shomo, and drummer Andrew Wetzel signed with Rise Records and delivered its first album, Someday Came Suddenly, in 2008. The band supported the release by sharing bills with Black Tide, Burn Halo, and Escape the Fate.

Carlile departed amid the 2008 tour, prompting the arrival of Nick Barham, previously of For All We Know, who held the vocal post for a single year before exiting. Rather than recruit another singer, the group elevated keyboardist Caleb Shomo to lead vocals and began work on its follow-up. The self-titled Attack Attack! surfaced in June 2010, introducing Shomo in the frontman role. Johnny Franck announced his departure later that year, leaving Shomo to cover every vocal part. The resulting quartet effort, This Means War, arrived in 2012 and credited Shomo with both vocals and production duties. The accompanying tour marked the band’s final activity before entering indefinite hiatus.

In 2020, original members Andrew Wetzel and Andrew Whiting rejoined forces with bassist Jay Miller and vocalist Chris Parketny, issuing the single “All My Life.” Two additional singles, “Kawaii Cowboys” and “Brachyura Bombshell,” followed in 2021, and all three tracks were collected on the EP Long Time, No Sea.
