Emerging from Toronto in 2006, the Canadian metalcore outfit Abandon All Ships fuses electronic music with post-hardcore and technical metal to produce an unexpectedly victorious hybrid. The lineup includes Angelo Aita on vocals, Martin Broda covering vocals and bass, Sebastian Cassisi-Nunez on keys and programming, Kyler Stephen Browne handling guitar, Andrew Paiano also on guitar, and Daniel Paiano at the drums. The musicians first came together specifically to perform Norma Jean covers, yet they soon ventured beyond that focus to create original songs. In time they blended dance-pop and metal, producing a densely programmed style that shifts between throbbing dance rhythms, Auto-Tuned vocals, and anguished, breakdown-driven metalcore. Their debut recording, a self-titled EP, arrived in 2009 and later gained wider attention following an appearance on the MuchMusic series Disband. Abandon All Ships then issued their first full-length album, Geeving, via Universal Music Canada in 2010.
