Get Scared

Get Scared emerged from Layton, Utah carrying a name that doubled as a rallying cry while draping post-hardcore in gothic atmosphere. The group came together in 2008 when singer Nicholas Matthews joined guitarists Johnny Braddock and Bradley "Lloyd" Iverson plus drummer Warren Wilcock, who gave way to Dan Juarez in 2009. Their stated goal was to escape familiar musical habits and stretch songwriting into unfamiliar territory so the music could mature. What followed blended gothic and horror imagery with propulsive post-hardcore and metalcore, casting a shadowy hue over the quartet’s intense, emotionally charged style. After inking a deal with Universal Motown, the band delivered its first full-length album, Best Kind of Mess, in 2011. The EP Built For Blame, Laced With Shame surfaced in 2012, and the following year Fearless Records issued the sophomore album Everyone’s Out to Get Me, marking the band’s initial release on that label. Also in 2012 the group put out its third long-player, Demons, once more through Fearless.
