The Plot in You emerged from Ohio as a metalcore outfit whose sound fuses alternative rock, electronic textures, nu-metal riffs, pop hooks, and R&B grooves into a singularly aggressive style. Since arriving in the early 2010s the group has issued five studio albums, three of which—Could You Watch Your Children Burn, Happiness in Self Destruction, and Dispose—registered on Billboard rock surveys. In 2024 the quartet delivered a trilogy of EPs whose standout track, the mainstream rock single “Closure,” achieved widespread radio traction.

Formed originally under the name Vessels, the project began as a side endeavor for Landon Tewers after he departed his prior Findlay, Ohio band Before Their Eyes. By 2010 Tewers had committed full-time to the Plot in You, assembling guitarists Anthony Thoma and Josh Childress, bassist Ethan Yoder, and drummer Cole Worden. That same year the lineup issued the Wife Beater EP and secured a contract with Rise Records. Their debut full-length, First Born, arrived in 2011 and established the band’s reputation for taut, breakdown-driven arrangements. Shortly afterward Thoma exited, making room for Derrick Seachrist, whose recorded debut with the group came on the 2013 follow-up Could You Watch Your Children Burn, an album that charted across multiple Billboard rock formats.

After parting ways with Rise Records, the band aligned with StaySick Recordings, the imprint founded by Attila’s Chris Fronzak. Their third LP, Happiness in Self Destruction, surfaced the next year and mirrored its predecessor’s commercial momentum. June 2017 brought the release of “Feel Nothing,” a track that quickly spread online, earned gold certification, and anchored the 2018 album Dispose. In 2021 the band returned with Swan Song, a set centered on mental health, grief, and self-reinvention. Now reduced to a four-piece featuring Tewers, Childress, Yoder, and drummer Michael Cooper, the Plot in You launched 2024 with Vol. 1—the first installment of a three-part EP series that also yielded the modern-rock singles “Left Behind,” “Closure,” and “Don’t Look Away.”
