Emerging from origins rooted in a Nevada prison cell, the post-hardcore, emo, and electronic-leaning pop-punk group Falling in Reverse has embodied persistence under the leadership of Ronnie Radke, previously the frontman of Escape the Fate. The outfit secured gold certification with its inaugural effort, 2011's The Drug in Me Is You, and maintained momentum through repeated personnel shifts as Radke joined forces with guitarist Derek Jones to guide subsequent releases to prominent chart positions, among them 2015's Just Like You and 2017's Coming Home. Jones's sudden passing in 2019 marked a somber chapter, yet Radke assembled a refreshed roster that delivered the 2022 EP Neon Zombie and advanced toward the 2024 album Popular Monster via singles such as the Top 100 entry "Watch the World Burn" together with the Papa Roach cover "Last Resort (Reimagined)."

Radke established the project during his incarceration at Nevada's High Desert State Prison following a 2008 parole violation. Behind bars he assembled guitarists Derek Jones and Jacky Vincent, drummer Ryan Seaman, and bassist Mika Horiuchi, convening with them in visiting areas while composing material in his cell. Upon completing two and a half years of a four-year term, he exited custody in late 2010; the ensemble then realized its propulsive, melodic vision on The Drug in Me Is You. Early the following year Horiuchi departed, with Ron Ficarro stepping in. The revised configuration tracked Fashionably Late, issued mid-2013, which incorporated hip-hop and electronic textures alongside the core post-hardcore framework; the set performed solidly commercially though critics offered limited endorsement, and its supporting tour concluded prematurely after Radke welcomed his son.

In 2014 the band rejoined Escape the Fate for the Bury the Hatchet trek. Once the dates ended, Ficarro exited and Escape the Fate alumnus Max Green briefly assumed bass duties for five months before Zakk Sandler took over. Just Like You appeared on Epitaph in early 2015, earning stronger critical notice by emphasizing heavier, scream-driven material and sidelining prior hip-hop explorations. Extensive touring followed until Jacky Vincent departed that October, succeeded by Christian Thompson. The fourth album, Coming Home, surfaced in 2017 with a broader, more expressive palette. Ryan Seaman subsequently left, prompting a rotation of substitute drummers. Attention shifted toward standalone singles, culminating in the platinum-certified chart-topper "Popular Monster" in 2019.

Founding guitarist Derek Jones passed away on April 21, 2020, at age 35. Several months later the group issued "Carry On." Now the sole remaining original member, Radke enlisted guitarists Christian Thompson and Max Georgiev, bassist Tyler Burgess, and touring drummer Luke Holland. Co-producing alongside Dangerkids vocalist Tyler Smith, the ensemble unveiled the 2022 EP Neon Zombie. The 2023 single "Watch the World Burn" marked the band's first Billboard Hot 100 placement, followed by the Papa Roach reinterpretation "Last Resort." Popular Monster arrived as the fifth studio album in 2024, featuring "Ronald" with Tech N9ne and Alex Terrible, "All My Life" alongside Jelly Roll, and the title track initially released in 2019 with Jones's contribution.
