Biography
Early in 2010 the metalcore outfit Capture the Crown assembled in Sydney, Australia. Vocalist Jeffrey Wellfare joined forces with guitarists Jye Menzies and Blake Ellis, all three of whom had previously performed together in the metal band Atlanta Takes State; they then added bassist Kris Sheehan and drummer Tyler "Lone America" March to launch the new project. Their first single, "You Call That a Knife? This Is a Knife!," appeared shortly afterward, its video uploaded to the band’s YouTube channel and accumulating five million views inside twelve months. Three additional singles achieved strong traction throughout 2012, prompting the group to cross the Pacific and lay down its debut full-length, 'Til Death, at revered metal producer Cameron Mizell’s Chango Studios in Florida. Once signed to Sumerian Records, the album surfaced in late 2012. The following year brought the standalone track “All Hype, All Night” and the band’s inaugural headlining tour. By the end of 2013 Capture the Crown had exited the Sumerian roster; after independently financing the Live Life EP through crowd-funding, they also parted company with founding guitarist Ellis. The EP finally reached listeners in early 2014, after which the revised lineup entered the studio with producer Matt Good (From First to Last) to track a sophomore album. Reign of Terror emerged that summer via the California imprint Artery Recordings.
