Drawing from Megadeth's axe-wielding rock, Bullet for My Valentine's screaming emo, and the punk-pop of blink-182, the four-piece metalcore band Glamour of the Kill originates from York. The lineup—lead vocalist/bassist Davey Richmond (Davey Death), guitarists Chris Gomerson (Chris Carnage) and Mike Kingswood (Mikey Massacre), plus drummer Ben Thomson (Ben Brutal)—first assembled in 2003 as The Red Room Theory. They switched to their present name only after completing their debut self-funded EP, Invitations. The follow-up release Through the Dark They March earned a flawless 10/10 from Metal Hammer, which directly earned the band an opening slot with Avenged Sevenfold and a contract from indie imprint Siege of Amida Records. During 2008 the group played the Main Stage at Download Festival, put out its third self-titled EP, and supplied a cover of Iron Maiden's "2 Minutes to Midnight" to a Kerrang tribute album. Their debut full-length, The Summoning, arrived through Afflicted Music in 2011.
