Beginning his musical path while enrolled at the University of California at Santa Barbara, Oakland, California singer-songwriter Brooke—whose complete name is Brooke Heller—initially fronted garage punk groups reminiscent of Bad Religion and the Misfits. Upon returning to UCSB for a master’s program in psychology, he started composing tracks independently and later secured a songwriting agreement with Warner-Chappell. After relocating to Los Angeles, Brooke collaborated on a demo alongside producers Guy Erez and Emerson Swinford. As the inaugural artist signed to Connoisseur Records—the imprint established in 2001 by radio executives Jeffrey Warshaw and Mike Driscoll—his first full-length release, Coming Home, came out on May 20th. Drawing from the varied influences of his youth, the album blends classic rock elements with soulful grooves and hip-hop rhythms.
