UK pop quartet Brother Beyond came together in the mid-80s, its lineup consisting of vocalist Nathan Moore (born 10 January 1965 in Stamford Hill, London, England), keyboardist Carl Fysh (born 25 January 1963 in England), guitarist David White and drummer Steve Alexander. After linking with the production and songwriting team Stock, Aitken And Waterman, the group debuted on record in 1987 via the modest UK successes ‘How Many Times’ and ‘Chain-Gang Smile’. Real breakthrough arrived the next year, when ‘The Harder I Try’ climbed to number 2 and ‘He Ain’t No Competition’ reached number 6. The following January, the lightweight ‘Be My Twin’ failed to crack the UK Top 10, after which the quartet’s commercial fortunes steadily waned. Their last UK chart entry, the 1991 single ‘The Girl I Used To Know’, barely scraped inside the Top 50. The same song had nevertheless reached the US Top 30 a year earlier, yet by that stage Stock, Aitken And Waterman had effectively withdrawn their support. Moore resurfaced in the mid-90s inside the UK Top 20 as a member of Worlds Apart, after which he transitioned into artist management. In 2002 he mounted a short-lived solo bid that included the duet ‘If There Was Love’ with 80s pop star Kim Wilde.
