CABIN, based in Louisville, Kentucky, crafts an intricate fusion of inventive indie pop and dark-hued alternative rock that recalls artists including Sufjan Stevens, Radiohead, the Flaming Lips, and Coldplay. Visual artist and songwriter Noah Hewett-Ball established the project in the early 2000s, issuing the debut full-length Govern the Good Life in 2005. During the subsequent three years the lineup matured into a broader and tighter collective, aided by the arrival of experimental violinist and pianist Sarah Beth Welder, whose contributions helped 2010’s Among the Rectangles and Changeable Parts stand as the band’s strongest release to that point.
