Biography
Among London, England natives, Jonathan Burnip has employed Capracara as one of several production aliases. In the company of other exponents of twisted 21st-century acid house such as Jamal Moss (Hieroglyphic Being) and Tadd Mullinix (James T. Cotton), Burnip issued his debut Capracara 12", the pair of winding cuts titled "Opal Rush" and "Flashback 86," through Soul Jazz in 2006; the tracks drew heavily on the example of Chicago house originators Adonis, Phuture, and Larry Heard. Kit Clayton later supplied a remix of the A-side. Although Burnip's subsequent Capracara outing, "King of the Witches," which carried a Rub 'n' Tug version on its reverse, did not surface until February 2009 on DFA, he remained busy elsewhere, handling remixes as one member of the duo Tiger Timing, supplying re-edits to the History Clock label, and developing tracks alongside Quiet Village's Joel Martin under the name Churchill's Leopards.
