Norwegian producer Hans-Peter Lindstrøm stands among the central architects of twenty-first-century nu-disco and, more specifically, the resurgence of its space-disco variant. Although his catalog extends well beyond disco and electro, he has also explored synth pop, art rock, and progressive electronic forms. After founding the Feedelity imprint in 2002, he issued a run of widely praised EPs and twelve-inch singles over the ensuing years, establishing himself as a sought-after producer and remixer within the global club circuit both independently and through his long-standing partnership with Prins Thomas. Among the artists he reworked were LCD Soundsystem and Franz Ferdinand, while his own 2005 twelve-inch I Feel Space quickly attained cult status among DJs internationally. His studio albums encompass the otherworldly prog-disco of 2008’s Where You Go I Go Too, the luminous dance-pop of 2009’s Real Life Is No Cool alongside Christabelle, and the expansive cosmic club cuts of 2023’s Everyone Else Is a Stranger. He has sustained his collaboration with Prins Thomas across both remixes and original material, their third joint album appearing in 2020.

Although his formative influences lay in rock and country, Lindstrøm reportedly turned to dance music simply to understand its mechanics. He initiated releases on Feedelity in 2003 with an Untitled EP and the single “Music (In My Mind)” featuring vocalist Christabelle. That same year he and Prins Thomas issued the album Lindstrøm & Prins Thomas on Eskimo, while the 2006 compilation It’s a Feedelity Affair gathered early singles and EPs and ranked among the year’s most celebrated club releases. The expansive Where You Go I Go Too, whose title track approaches thirty minutes, arrived on Smalltown Supersound in 2008 and appeared on numerous year-end lists. The following year he unveiled a forty-two-minute interpretation of “Little Drummer Boy” timed for the holiday season and produced Real Life Is No Cool, a Christabelle collaboration aimed equally at clubs and living rooms.

Early 2012 brought the taut, experimental Six Cups of Rebel, followed later that year by the more straightforward Smalhans. Prior to the 2015 full-length Runddans—a twelve-part suite recorded with Todd Rundgren and Serena-Maneesh’s Emil Nikolaisen—he shared twelve-inch collaborations with Todd Terje and Maya Vik. Dancefloor focus returned with the 2016 Windings EP, anchored by the track “Closing Shot.” His fifth solo album, It’s Alright Between Us as It Is, emerged in 2017 and included contributions from vocalists Jenny Hval, Grace Hall, and Frida Sundemo. The largely improvised, vintage-synth ambient collection On a Clear Day I Can See You Forever appeared in 2019, followed in 2020 by the digital release Live at Henie Onstad Kunstsenter. Lindstrøm and Prins Thomas maintained their partnership remotely, culminating in the November arrival of their album III. In 2023 Lindstrøm returned with Everyone Else Is a Stranger, a solo set of four extended dance pieces featuring congas, flutes, and Chinese cello.
