Emerging in 2006 via the monikers Oriol D.a.r.y.l. and simply D.a.r.y.l., Spanish-born Oriol Riverola, who records as John Talabot, built a reputation as a producer and DJ focused on understated house suited to both solitary listening and communal spaces. His first 12" under the Talabot name, the three-track My Old School, surfaced in April 2009 on Germany's Permanent Vacation. Two months later he followed with the single "Sunshine" on his own Hivern Discs. Further acclaimed singles appeared on those imprints plus Young Turks across 2010 and 2011, while his remixes for Tahiti 80 and Teengirl Fantasy accumulated steadily. The debut album ƒIN, which contained several vocal cuts featuring Pional and Ekhi, arrived in February 2012 on Permanent Vacation; a special edition later added reworkings by Bullion, Pachanga Boys, and others. Talabot assembled a volume of !K7's long-running DJ-Kicks series that was issued in November 2013. The set introduced "Sideral," the first joint production by Talabot and Swedish producer Axel Boman under the Talaboman alias. The track received a single release in 2014 via a co-release between Hivern and Boman's Studio Barnhus. Additional singles followed with "Without You" on !K7 in 2015 and "Voices" on Permanent Vacation in 2016. His debut full-length, The Night Land, appeared on R&S in 2017.
