Biography
Charles Watson, an English singer, songwriter, and multi-instrumentalist, gained his greatest recognition by co-founding the indie pop group Slow Club alongside Rebecca Taylor. The Sheffield-based project began in 2006 when Watson aimed to merge folk and 1960s pop influences with indie rock and twee pop. After issuing two 7" singles on Moshi Moshi Records in 2007, the duo followed with the debut EP Let's Fall Back in Love in 2008 and the first album, Yeah, So?, in 2009. Their 2011 release Paradise brought wider attention, after which three further projects appeared. Watson became a member of the garage rock outfit the Surfing Magazines in 2017, a band that included players from the Wave Pictures; the ensemble issued its self-titled album that September. The following year he delivered his debut solo full-length, Now That I'm a River, again through Moshi Moshi.
