Biography
Emerging from Nantes, this French duo first unleashed their noisy sonic presence in November 1998. The Chicago scene has shaped their music from the outset, most notably through the example of Steve Albini’s Shellac. Tony C. operates the guitar, surrounded by numerous effect pedals, while Julien F. handles drums, the pair facing off in direct instrumental confrontation that yields syncopated, heavy, and forceful riffs and beats. Throughout their opening two years the duo served as support for such established acts as Laddio Bolocko, U.S. Maple, Storm and Stress, and Lumen. Their initial release appeared as a split single with Ulan Bator in June 2000. Sport followed as the first album, issued in February 2001 under the joint production of RuminanCe and Ottonecker.
