Biography
Pop provocateur Christian TV, born Christian Berishaj, spent his formative years in East Detroit while drawing inspiration from a wide array of musicians that included Prince, Phil Collins, Fiona Apple, and Radiohead. During 2005 he assembled the group Love Arcade, taking responsibility for vocals, guitar, bass, keyboards, production, graphic design, and videography within the project. Atlantic Records soon signed the band, which issued its sole album, Love Arcade, the following year; however, Berishaj had struck out on his own by late 2008, adopting the name Christian TV. He began circulating tracks and clips such as “Naked” and “Drop Dead Gorgeous Jamie” via the internet, while also supplying remixes for Rihanna’s “Rude Boy” and the xx’s “Infinity.” Early in 2010 Christian TV joined the roster of Motown Records and, several months afterward, unveiled the single “When She Turns 18,” which he supported with an appearance on the Fox series So You Think You Can Dance. A full-length album was slated for release before the year concluded.
