Christopher Martin

Born in Saint Catherine, Jamaica, in 1987, dancehall vocalist Christopher Martin completed high school and then captured the top prize at the 2005 Digicel Rising Stars televised singing contest, which quickly established his name throughout the region. He channeled that early momentum into a string of live appearances and soon issued his first original material, beginning with the 2006 single “Don’t Go.” For several years Martin operated mainly as a singles artist, landing notable tracks such as “Take My Wings,” “Giving It,” and the Busy Signal collaboration “Jamaican Girls.” He joined VP Records in 2013, and four years later the label issued his first full-length album, Big Deal.
