Los Angeles native Cisco Adler, an alternative hip-hop/reggae/funk-rock performer and son of director and music producer Lou Adler, first drew notice as frontman of the Malibu rock outfit Whitestarr. With that band he issued the albums Luv Machine and Fillith Tillith, parting ways in 2008. That same year he teamed with rapper Shwayze on a project whose singles “Buzzin” and “Corona and Lime” both registered on the Billboard Hot 100. Shwayze’s follow-up Let It Beat surfaced in 2009 and Island in the Sun arrived in 2011. During this ongoing partnership Adler also put out his own EPs Alice in La La Land (2009) and The W’s (2011) plus the mixtapes Rich Girls (2008) and Super California Lipstick Sexy Magic Dope Shit (2010). His debut solo album, Aloha, appeared in 2012 on the Bananabeat Records imprint he founded.
