Based in Santa Cruz, California, the Expendables craft a mix of reggae, ska, pop, punk, and surf-tinged rock built for warm-weather leisure. The band came together in 1997 and shares roots with other West Coast reggae-leaning jam outfits including Dance Hall Crashers, Reel Big Fish, and Pepper. Its four members consist of Geoff Weers on guitar and vocals, Raul Bianchi on lead guitar, Ryan Demars on bass, and Adam Patterson on drums and vocals. Two independent albums appeared in 2006, followed by Gettin' Filthy on Pony Canyon. After inking a deal with Stoopid Records, run by their peers and road companions Slightly Stoopid, the group delivered its self-titled fourth album in 2007. Prove It, the fifth studio release, surfaced in 2010. Gone Soft arrived in 2012 as the first all-acoustic effort and included streamlined acoustic renditions of several signature songs. Sand in the Sky became the sixth studio album in 2015.
