Emerging onto the scene in 2014 as Australia’s counterpart to Wiz Khalifa or Kid Cudi, rapper Citizen Kay entered the world in Ghana, Africa. After his family relocated to Canberra, Australia, he cultivated a deep affinity for hip-hop and first performed rhymes under the name Kay. The year 2013 brought his initial single “Yes!,” issued under the Citizen Kay banner that likewise appeared on the follow-up tracks “Manage” and “Raise a Glass.” Twelve months later came his opening full-length Demokracy, paired with a team-up alongside the Australian electro crew Vengeance on the club hit “Haters.”
