Claire George, a Los Angeles-based singer and songwriter, produces vibrant electronic pop whose buoyant and relaxed tone contrasts sharply with its thematic weight. Her 2021 full-length debut, The Land Beyond the Light, confronts personal hardships that include romantic separations and the death of a loved one from addiction.

Born in Seattle, George lent her vocals to various groups during her San Francisco years. The indie pop outfit Heartwatch, first called the Tropics, issued its self-titled album in 2016, and she added her voice to cuts by dance producers Luttrell and Valy Mo. After two years of seclusion in Washington devoted to solo work, she settled in Southern California, where Cascine released the EP Bodies of Water in 2018. While shaping her first solo album she endured a painful breakup, and the project grew darker following the substance-related death of an ex-boyfriend. The Land Beyond the Light, a collection of bittersweet songs shaped by dream pop, house, and U.K. garage, appeared in 2021.
