Biography
Commix, the Cambridge, U.K., duo of Guy Brewer and George Levings, diverge from standard junglist performers chiefly through their dominant techno influences. The drum-n-bass act name Derrick May, Kevin Saunderson, and Carl Craig among the chief catalysts that prompted them to start creating music. Formed initially with a third member, Conrad Whittle, Commix entered the scene in 2003 by issuing the single "Feel Something" on Aquasonic, the label run by Blue Sonix. In the years that followed, Whittle left the group, the techno elements surfaced with greater frequency, and further 12"s appeared via Hospital, Good Looking Records, and Doc Scott's 31 Records. To issue their debut album, Call to Mind, they secured a deal with the Metalheadz label; the project included a guest spot from Steve Spacek and carried a hidden bonus track consisting of a remix by Underground Resistance.
