Technimatic

London-based pair Technimatic, formed by Peter Rogers and Andy Powell, first united in 2007 after each had recorded separately as Technicolour and Komatic. Their initial joint project arrived as the 2009 drum'n'bass single Preacher on Worldwide Audio, the sister imprint of Technique Recordings, and it established the emotionally charged aesthetic that would mark everything that followed. Additional singles soon gained traction, among them an official remix of LTJ Bukem's "Horizons," which prompted premier outlet Shogun Audio to sign the duo in 2012. Their first release for the label, the Intersection EP, appeared in summer 2013 and earned support from BBC Radio 1 figures including Mistajam and Friction. The track "Bristol," contributed to Shogun Audio's Way of the Warrior, Pt. 2 compilation, reached Gilles Peterson's 6 Music program and confirmed Technimatic's standing among leading voices in the contemporary U.K. drum'n'bass landscape. Desire Paths, their debut album, surfaced in 2014 and received acclaim for its classic roller orientation reminiscent of other material on the Shogun roster. The Flashbulb EP followed in 2015; its sun-drenched liquid style aligned perfectly with that season, and Lucy Kitchen supplied vocals once more after appearing on the preceding album. Better Perspective arrived in summer 2016, still on Shogun Audio, extending the same warm, summery liquid direction and again showcasing Kitchen's contributions.
