Biography
Austrian drum'n'bass duo Camo & Krooked came together in 2007. Reinhard Rietsch, who performs as Camo, entered the world on April 23, 1983 in Salzburg, while Markus Wagner, known as Krooked, was born on July 31, 1989 in Lilienfeld; each had already been making music individually since 2002 when the pair joined forces and began issuing singles starting in 2008. Their debut full-length, Above & Beyond, arrived in 2010 and showcased a drum'n'bass foundation interwoven with house, dubstep, and fun. That same year the duo earned the Best Newcomer DJ prize at the Drum & Bass Arena Awards. Their follow-up studio effort, Cross the Line, surfaced in 2011 via Hospital Records, with the companion remix collection Between the Lines appearing the next year. Zeitgeist, their third album, landed in 2013 and marked their first appearance on the Austrian album charts, where it reached number 22. The pair gained recognition for their signature “anti-drop” approach, and their international presence grew through extensive touring, a steady stream of singles, and remixes for acts ranging from Metronomy to Lana Del Rey. Four years would pass before their next studio album, Mosaik, emerged on Ram Records in 2017 after they spent considerable time developing a new sonic direction. The record leaned toward pop sensibilities and melody, distilling stadium drum'n'bass down to its core elements, and included the single “If I Could,” which introduced British vocalist Joe Killington.
