English duo Hybrid Minds, formed by producers Matthew Lowe and Josh White, fuse precise percussion, heartfelt singing, and expansive electronics into their singular brand of liquid drum'n'bass. Between repeated live performances and festival slots, the pair delivered the studio albums Mountains in 2014, Elements in 2017, and Tides in 2024, establishing a firm presence in the style through their emotionally resonant approach.

The two first connected as collaborators at radio station Ruthless Soundz in the late 2000s, where DJs and producers Matthew Lowe (performing as Sensa) and Josh White (performing as Haste) launched Hybrid Minds to move beyond the heavier, dancefloor-oriented material that filled their earlier sets. Their initial release, “The Place,” issued as Sensa & Haste, gained rapid traction via the online platform UKF; although the track was later removed over an uncleared sample, its hundreds of thousands of streams brought the duo their earliest international recognition. Adopting the Hybrid Minds name, they promptly followed with the official debut single “Lost” plus the EPs Hybrid Minds and Heartfelt, both arriving in 2012. The pair’s signature decagon logo first appeared on the artwork for 2013’s “Meant to Be,” preceding their debut full-length, the fifteen-track album Mountains released in 2014. That project introduced the core elements of the Hybrid Minds aesthetic—rich synth textures paired with ballad-style vocals—that supplied lasting emotional depth across the ensuing decade and afterward.

Following the 2015 EP Lifted, Lowe and White scored their largest success yet with the 2016 single “Touch,” featuring London-based vocalist Catching Cairo. Issued as the inaugural release on the duo’s own Hybrid Music imprint, the multi-million-stream track served as the lead for their second album. Elements, arriving in 2017, extended their signature cathartic style and included contributions from recurring associates Grimm, Charlotte Haining, and Linguistics. Additional singles such as 2018’s “Inside,” “Tapestry,” and “Supernova,” along with 2019’s “In Your Arms,” “Higher Love,” and “Drowning in You,” sustained their trajectory through the close of the decade.

Firmly established as a leading act in liquid drum'n'bass, the duo maintained an active schedule of club events and live shows into the early 2020s while issuing a consistent series of singles and EPs. Standouts included the unified Reflections EP in 2021, the 2022 single “Castles,” and “If Love Could Have Saved You,” recorded respectively with Tom Walker and Venbee. In 2024 the EPs Delete Our Love and Kites explored alternate versions of material intended for the third album; March brought the finished LP Tides, which combined both prior releases with fresh tracks and became the first Hybrid Minds album to appear on the UK charts.
