Danny Byrd earned acclaim as a key producer in the drum'n'bass community throughout the 2000s, yet mainstream recognition arrived only after a decade had passed since his debut record contract. Hailing from Bath in South West England, he first experimented with music production on an inexpensive sampler keyboard once the early-'90s rave aesthetic captured his interest. At seventeen he acquired a professional sampler, after which his track "Manhattan" earned airplay from the respected DJ duo Fabio & Grooverider; that same year, 2000, placed him among Hospital Records' earliest signings. His first full-length project, Supersized, appeared in 2008, though chart success remained elusive until two years afterward. A reinterpretation of Liquid's dance classic titled "Sweet Harmony" climbed to number 64, and "Ill Behaviour," built around a sample of Wildchild's "Renegade Master," reached number 36; both singles appeared on his sophomore album, Rave Digger.
