James Rockhill, a tech-house and drum'n'bass producer born in Sussex, England, adopted the alias Kove when he first began crafting tracks in 2006. Relocating to London in 2009 allowed him to work with an electro-pop band, after which he sharpened his production approach and shifted toward higher-tempo dance music by 2010. His growing focus on drum'n'bass material soon drew interest from Viper Recordings head Futurebound, leading to the 2012 release of “Stellar/Breach” on that imprint. October of the same year brought the follow-up single “Iodine/Open Ground” via Andy C’s Program label. Late in 2013 he joined Chase & Status’ MTA roster, first remixing their track “Lost & Not Found” and then issuing the Measures EP. BBC Radio 1Xtra gave heavy rotation to the EP cut “Love for You,” earning widespread national and commercial attention. Remixes for Bastille and John Newman followed, and his July 2014 single “Way We Were” became his biggest success yet by reaching the U.K. singles chart’s Top 30. MTA put out the Murmurations EP that October. Throughout 2015 Kove supplied remixes for Ella Eyre, Tough Love and additional artists, then released the July single “Hurts” featuring Moko.
