British drum'n'bass duo the Prototypes emerged from underground roots to establish themselves as fixtures within the British rave circuit. Countless remixes for Modestep, Ed Sheeran, AlunaGeorge, Donae'o, and Pendulum stand among their output.

Chris Garvey and Nick White each came of age in Brighton amid the local underground rave community before linking up. Their initial collaboration arrived in 2007 with a remix of Hadouken!'s "Bad Signal" issued on Ice Records, yet original material did not surface until 2010 in the form of the tracks "Work It," "Cascade," and "Need the Love." Shogun Audio became their home in 2011, yielding the EPs Born to Rise and Suffocate/Habituation that same year followed by Rage Within/Insomniac in 2013. A move to Viper Recordings took place the next year, promptly resulting in the 2014 EP Don't Let Me Go. Their first album, City of Gold, appeared in 2015 and included vocal contributions from Ayah Marar and Amy Pearson. After a brief pause in new releases, the pair started Get Hype Records in 2016 and resurfaced in 2020 with the album Ten Thousand Feet & Rising.
