DC Breaks operate as a London-rooted drum'n'bass duo whose precise yet exploratory productions fuse crisp breakbeats and pulsing synth lines with sweeping cinematic textures, sometimes folding in reggae, pop, rock, Latin music, and additional styles. Dan Havers, known as DJ Samurai, and Chris Page, recording as DJ Kryptic, launched the project in 2004 and derived its name from their shared initials. Their first single, "Que Sera," surfaced on Restless Natives, an outlet that had already issued solo material from both producers. Subsequent releases appeared on High Lite Recordings and the duo's own self-titled imprint, drawing early backing from Kenny Ken, Peshay, Andy C., and others. Visibility grew after tracks landed on Frequency and Sudden Def. Viper issued the pair's debut EP Halo in 2010, its title cut ranking among their most widely embraced recordings. Andy C. brought them to his influential RAM Recordings label in 2011, resulting in the singles "Creeper" and "The More I Want" featuring R&B singer Rox, followed by the Firez EP in 2012. Official remixes for major-label pop acts including Paloma Faith and the Wanted had by then broadened their reach. Further singles continued on RAM, and in 2015 the duo's more pop-leaning, vocal-focused cuts "Breathe" and "If This Is Love" received joint release via RAM and Virgin EMI.
