Biography
Hailing from Northern Ireland, Conchúr White crafts luminous, verse-driven indie pop that incorporates folk accents alongside atmospheric shading. The singer/songwriter first fronted the textural rock outfit Silences before stepping out alone and issuing the critically admired Bikini Crops EP to open his solo chapter in 2020, followed the next year by Dreamers. In 2022 he inked a deal with Bella Union, the label that brought out his debut album, Swirling Violets, at the start of 2024.
Born in County Armagh, Conchúr (pronounced "Connor") initially rose to notice as the frontman of Silences, an atmospheric indie rock band that logged modest independent success during the mid-2010s. Once that group entered hiatus in 2018, White began shaping fresh songs independently, drawing from influences that stretched from Arctic Monkeys to Father John Misty. His first solo releases, the tracks "Daisies" and "Channing Tatum," alternated between eerie low-key indie rock and hushed acoustic folk, and both later found a home on the 2020 EP Bikini Crops. In the ensuing two-year span he accumulated critical praise and support slots alongside Villagers, John Grant, and John Cale. After issuing the second independent EP Dreamers in 2021, he entered the Bella Union stable and unveiled his first recording for the label, the lush 2023 folk-rock ballad "Atonia." January 2024 saw the arrival of White’s full-length debut, Swirling Violets.
