Couch

Munich-based experimental rock outfit Couch first came together in 1993, its lineup featuring keyboardist Stefanie Böhm alongside guitarist Jürgen Söder, bassist Michael Heilrath, and drummer Thomas Geltinger. Drawing from both foundational Krautrock acts and contemporary influences including Slint and Stereolab, the quartet issued an untitled debut in 1995 that appeared exclusively on vinyl. Etwas Benutzen followed in 1997, marking their initial outing on the Kitty-Yo imprint, also home to To Rococco Rot, Tarwater, Surrogat, and Laub. Fantasy surfaced two years afterward and received licensing from Matador Records the following year. Their fourth studio album, Profane, arrived in early 2001.
