Cristina Quesada, the understated indie pop artist from Madrid who speaks multiple languages with ease, summons the delicate spirit of classic Europop and disco. A mainstay on Elefant Records, she has issued three solo albums, among them two created with U.K. producer Joe Moore: Think I Heard a Rumour in 2019 and Dentro Al Tuo Sogno in 2022.

She began playing guitar at age 13 to learn songs she admired, performed with theater ensembles, and later joined the cast of a children’s television program in the Canary Islands. Several years afterward she took up the ukulele, which became her chief instrument and prompted her first 7" single for the Spanish indie pop label Elefant Records in 2013. Enlisting support from figures inside and outside the Elefant circle, including owner Luis Elefant and members of BAND À PART, Quesada commenced sessions for her debut LP in 2014. Issued in early 2015, You Are the One mixed original material with uncommon covers sung in Spanish, English, Italian, Brazilian Portuguese, and even Japanese.

For her 2019 follow-up she launched a fresh partnership with Joe Moore of the Oxford-based band the Yearning. With Moore handling production, arrangements, and nearly all songwriting, Think I Heard a Rumour moved more decisively into synth pop and disco.

The creative rapport between Quesada and Moore proved durable enough to continue on 2022’s Dentro Al Tuo Sogno. Pushing further into European electro-pop, the album drew particular inspiration from Italian masters such as Giorgio Moroder and Savage.
