Biography
Daisuke Tanabe works as an electronic musician and producer from his base in Tokyo, Japan. Having trained earlier as an art student and resided for a period in London, he began in a techno and breakbeat idiom before shaping the singular experimental style for which he is recognized. During his London years he issued the debut EP Gas in 2006, drawing notice from prominent British DJs including Gilles Peterson and Pete Adarkwah. Through subsequent EPs and singles he refined an uncommon blend of hip-hop, electronica, jazz, and folk that culminated in the 2010 full-length Before I Forget. In 2012 he joined Britain’s Kidkanevil for the collaborative project Kidsuke, then two years afterward delivered his second LP, the intricately detailed Floating Underwater.
