Born and raised just outside Tampa in Brandon, Florida, fiery soul-blues guitarist Damon Fowler first took up the guitar at age 12. Shown a handful of chords, he rapidly formed a deep connection with the instrument and soon embraced the blues wholeheartedly. Regular gigs in small Tampa Bay Area clubs followed, and Fowler began folding elements of R&B, soul, and country into his playing. He mastered lap steel guitar and Dobro, cultivated a wicked slide technique, and developed a serviceable singing voice. Strong performances steadily expanded his following and critical standing, leading to support tours and prominent festival appearances. Over the years he shared stages with Jeff Beck, Buddy Guy, Johnny Winter, Edgar Winter, Robin Trower, Gregg Allman, Jimmie Vaughan, Junior Brown, Rick Derringer, Delbert McClinton, and numerous others. In 1999 he issued the all-original self-released album Riverview Drive, followed by Roots and Branches in 2000 and the concert recording Live at Skipper's Smoke House in 2003; each earned praise from blues critics. After signing with Blind Pig Records he delivered the swamp blues-tinged Sugar Shack in 2009 and Devil Got His Way in 2011, then returned to the label in 2014 with the Tab Benoit-produced Sounds of Home.
