Of German and Greek descent, pianist Danae Dörken launched her musical training at five under Marina Kheifets. Within half a year she captured her initial competition prize, and she has since amassed numerous additional victories. One standout achievement came when organizers of the International Competition for Young Musicians in Enschede, Netherlands, instituted the Prix Unique expressly for her as its youngest entrant. Yehudi Menuhin heard her play in 1999 and subsequently championed her development. From 2002 until 2012 she participated in Karl-Heinz Kämmerling’s master class; after his passing she continued her studies with Lars Vogt. Festival appearances have taken her to the Kissinger Summer festival, the Schwetzinger SWR Festspiele, the Schleswig-Holstein Music Festival, and the chamber-music event Voltage staged inside Heimbach’s RWE Power Plant. She has given solo recitals and served as collaborative pianist alongside cellist Gustav Rivinius, soprano Christiane Oelze, and violinist Carolin Widmann, while also sharing stages with Katia and Marielle Lebèque. Her recordings appear on the Ars Produktion label.
