Russian DJ and producer Dasha Rush, born Dasha P. Van Celst, established a distinct presence within the worldwide techno landscape by issuing most of her work through the independent imprints Fullpanda Records and Hunger to Create. Her relentless global itinerary has encompassed both high-energy DJ appearances at crowded clubs and festivals and more avant-garde live presentations staged in galleries and theaters. Matching this versatility, her boldly exploratory output spans minimal techno, downtempo, glitch, and ambient territories. After issuing her initial pair of 12" EPs, Untitled Hunger in 2004 and Fullpanda in 2005, she unveiled her first album-length statement, Forms Ain't Formats, at the start of 2006. Additional 12"s appeared in the ensuing period, followed by the arrival of her sophomore full-length, I Run Iron I Run Ironic, in 2009. That record ventured further into experimental territory than its predecessors, shifting partly away from dancefloor utility toward leaner, more abstract compositions that incorporated her own vocals. Early champion Adam X extended an invitation for her to contribute to his Sonic Groove imprint, which yielded the EPs Sonic State in 2010 and Relativismi in 2011. After the 2013 release of Interception of Arts on Fullpanda and 2014's Timid Ocean Drawings on Deep Sound Channel, she transitioned to Raster-Noton for her most expansive album to date, Sleepstep: Sonar Poems for My Sleepless Friends.
