David Krasemann produces under the alias Dave DK from his Berlin base, issuing atmospheric and finely detailed minimal techno on key German dance imprints such as Kompakt, Pampa, and Playhouse. As a teenager in the mid-'90s he first began making techno, issuing his earliest singles under the plain name Dave on Müller Records and Raum...musik. In 1999 he became a resident DJ at Berlin’s storied Tresor/Globus club. His debut album, Sensory Overload, arrived on Müller Records in 2000 and revealed a talent for swirling arrangements built on intricately programmed beats. A 2002 collaborative EP with Jaxson on Cadeaux prompted a short-lived switch to the alias DK. He next used DK Berlin in 2004 for the “Swing” 12" on Regular, then settled on Dave DK that same year, releasing several singles on Television Records before signing to Moodmusic in 2005. The Rainshower EP, his first of many joint projects with Holger Zilske, appeared on Playhouse in 2006. Moodmusic issued Lights and Colours in 2007, his initial full-length under the Dave DK name and a further refinement of his accessible yet tightly crafted minimal house sound. The label followed with Retake One, his first continuously mixed CD, in 2010. Dave DK joined the Cologne-based Kompakt roster in 2013 and released the Palmaille EP that year. A split 12" with Ricoshëi came out on DJ Koze’s Pampa label in 2014. Kompakt then issued the full-length Val Maira in 2015.
