Brussels-based DJ and producer DC Salas shifted his sound from tuneful, emotive house and techno toward darker territory shaped by electro, disco, and New Beat. His 2010 debut EP Peru attracted significant attention, establishing him as a regular at the renowned Brussels venue Fuse while he traveled across Europe and played events including Pukkelpop and Paradise City. The Unspoken, his first album, surfaced in 2017, after which he issued further haunting, retro-tinged EPs such as 2019’s Dawn Nostalgia and 2022’s Voces.

Diego Cortez Salas titled his initial track “Peru” to reflect his roots. Doctor Vinyl Records put out the Peru EP in 2010, where it quickly drew notice as Ivan Smagghe and Maya Jane Coles included it in their sets. E.V.O.L. and A Positive Shade arrived the following year, and a 2014 joint project with Mugwump introduced EBM and New Beat elements that would recur across Salas’ later work. Don’t Be Scared (2014) and When You Left (2016) came via Biologic Records, the imprint he operates alongside French producer Abstraxion. The Unspoken, his debut full-length, followed in 2017 and included contributions from Belgian duo Joy Wellboy.

Indecisive, which carried a Fort Romeau remix, emerged in 2019, the same year Correspondant issued Dawn Nostalgia. Additional EPs appeared on Live at Robert Johnson, Futureboogie, and Pets Recordings in the early 2020s. Healing Is a Process, spotlighting the breakbeat-driven “Hidden Dancefloors,” surfaced in 2022 and preceded Time Well Spent and Voces.
