Biography
Detektivbyran came together as a whimsical trio in Wermland, Sweden during 2005, crafting compositions that evoke the delicate glockenspiel- and accordion-driven pieces of Yann Tiersen, the buoyant glitch pop of I Am Robot and Proud, and the rapid click-blippity energy of vintage eight-bit video games. Multi-instrumentalists Jon Nils Emanuel Ekström, Anders Flanders, and Martin Molin make up the group, which issued its debut EP, Hemvagen, in summer 2006. The recording generated substantial online buzz within music blogs, particularly those devoted to rising Swedish indie pop acts such as It's a Trap! and Swedesplease. During the next year Detektivbyran put out two further singles, Lyckans Undulat and a split 7" with Hemstad, while also appearing on the Swedish MTV program Phaser.
